My Story

I’m Austin Macpherson, Licensed Massage Therapist and founder of Community Wellness PDX. My journey into massage began with a passion for helping people feel more at ease in their bodies and more connected to their own well-being.

I became interested in how deeply trauma lives not just in the mind, but in the body, and how recovery often begins with reconnecting to physical sensations. This insight drew me toward massage and bodywork as a way to help people feel grounded in their own bodies again. Through touch, I saw the possibility of releasing tension, calming the nervous system, and supporting the body’s natural capacity to heal.

Over time, I realized that this potential isn’t limited to those carrying deep trauma, but extends to everyone. Massage and wellness practices have the potential to serve as powerful tools for preventative care— helping us manage stress, restore balance, and stay connected to ourselves before crisis sets in.

My mission now is to make these services more accessible, so that healing can ripple outward, beginning with each individual and growing into stronger, healthier communities.

My Approach

I practice client-centered, outcome-based massage, which means I don’t simply follow a a set routine. My work is guided by the belief that every person’s body holds its own story, and that massage is most effective when it responds to the needs of the moment, which is why every session is a collaboration between your goals and my professional experience.

In any given session, I draw from a range of modalities and techniques, seamlessly blending them together to work with you to create the best possible results—whether that’s easing chronic pain, improving mobility, or simply giving you space to relax and recharge.

Why Mobile (for Now)

Right now, I provide mobile massage throughout the Portland area, bringing care directly to your home so you can experience relaxation and relief without the stress of travel. This allows me to keep massage affordable and accessible, while I grow toward a permanent studio space where I can serve the community on a larger scale.

The Bigger Vision

Massage and bodywork are at the heart of my practice, but my vision extends further. I believe true wellness comes from addressing the whole person: body, mind, and spirit. Over time, I plan to grow Community Wellness PDX into a place where people can access a wide range of services, including massage, yoga, acupuncture, nutrition, personal training, and other holistic practices.

The goal is to offer a comprehensive approach to health that supports recovery from pain and stress, prevents chronic conditions, and empowers people to live with greater balance and vitality. By bringing together different wellness modalities in one place, we can make care more accessible, collaborative, and impactful for both individuals and the communities we share.

Ultimately, this represents for me the beginning of a wellness-focused movement with a long-term vision of creating a retreat and intentional living space where people can come together for healing, connection, and holistic well-being.
