About Me

Hi, I’m Austin Macpherson, LMT #28979, and founder of Community Wellness PDX.

I completed my training in massage right here in Portland, receiving over 800 hours of training at East West College of Healing Arts, including 50 hours dedicated to Traditional Thai Massage. I’m currently continuing my education through a 200-hour YTT program, as well as a 100-hour certification in Trauma-Informed Somatic Bodywork. My work is constantly adapting as I learn more about movement, mindfulness, and the body’s incredible ability to heal itself.

I enjoy working with anyone who would benefit from reduced stress, less pain, and greater ease in the body, however my ideal clients are those who want to work towards lasting change over time.

I do this work because I want to help people feel better in their bodies, and believe that wellness practices should be accessible, intuitive, and integrated into everyday life. Through Community Wellness, my goal is to make healing an ongoing practice rather than the occasional luxury.

Outcome-Based Massage and Bodywork

Rather than centering sessions around specific modalities like Swedish or Deep Tissue, each session at Community Wellness is focused on you and what will be most effective for your goals. You simply book the time, and during a brief intake we determine the best approach for your body, integrating techniques as needed at no additional cost. This allows sessions to adapt in real time, addressing primary concerns while supporting consistent progress over the long term.

    • Swedish - A classic wellness massage using flowing strokes and gentle kneading to ease muscle tension and promote relaxation.

    • Deep Tissue - Focused, slower techniques that reach the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue to release chronic tension and knots.

    • Myofascial Release - Gentle, sustained pressure and stretching that works with the fascia to restore mobility and ease restrictions.

    • Trigger/Tender Point Therapy - Targeted pressure applied to specific knots or tender points that may cause pain in other areas of the body.

    • Table Thai Massage - Combining acupressure, assisted stretching, and rhythmic movements to increase flexibility and relieve tension.

  • Further enhance your experience with:

    • Aromatherapy – Essential oils can be a powerful addition to massage therapy for stress, tension, anxiety, and pain.

    • Cupping – Gentle suction to release deep tension and improve circulation.

    • Hand & Foot Treatments – Targeted care and exfoliating treatment to relieve stress and refresh tired muscles.

    • CBD Pain Relief Oil - A topical CBD ointment used for treating aches and pains.

Benefits

Each session at Community Wellness PDX is designed to support your body and mind in a way that feels restorative, natural, and personalized. Regular massage isn’t just about relaxation— it’s an essential part of long-term wellness.

Some of the benefits of regular massage include:

Stress Relief

Helps regulate your nervous system, easing the constant tension that builds up from work, screens, and daily responsibilities. Over time, your body learns to release stress more quickly, leaving you calmer, more balanced, and better able to handle life’s challenges.

Improved Circulation & Recovery

Improves blood flow and lymphatic drainage, which means your body can heal, recover, and flush out toxins more efficiently. Whether you’re active, sitting at a desk, or somewhere in between, consistent massage keeps your body functioning at its best.

Reduced Pain & Muscle Tightness

Addresses muscle tightness, postural imbalances, and areas of chronic discomfort before they become major issues.

Restored Mind-Body Connection

Over time, you’ll be more attuned to notice patterns in your tension, learn what your body needs, and build greater awareness and appreciation for how you feel. This ongoing relationship with your body is the foundation of lasting wellness.

Enhanced Flexibility & Movement

Keeps your muscles, fascia, and joints supple, preventing the stiffness that builds up from sitting, stress, or repetitive activity. With consistent care, your range of motion expands, everyday movements feel easier, and your body adapts more gracefully to both exercise and rest.

Detoxification & Boosted Immune Support

By reducing stress and improving circulation, massage helps keep your immune system strong. When it becomes part of your regular routine, your body is better equipped to fight off seasonal illnesses and maintain overall health year-round.
